Landings

The entire valley is an open playground for landings—you can touch down almost anywhere you like. Just be mindful to avoid cultivated fields and the military camp, and you’re free to enjoy a smooth and scenic descent in this breathtaking landscape.

The landing next to the club house can sometimes be demanding during summer because of the strong bubbles (thermals) at the landing field.  There are alternative landing filed on the east side of the hill. The Air Field are recommended for inexperienced pilots.

Takeoffs

Korilovos, Drama, Front

Take-off height: 480m. A beautiful launch site with a green mat on the ground for a smooth and safe start.

Take-off wind directions: SW – SSW – S – SSE – SE.

With little or no wind, thermals always make it possible to take off.

Korilovos, Drama – Back Take-off

Excellent in the afternoon when the sea breeze from Kavala arrives. Enjoy hours of smooth and calm flying in perfect conditions.

Pirgi

Kefalari

Easily accessible via a concrete road, suitable for normal cars.

The small take-off area accommodates 2-3 gliders at a time. For larger groups, we designate one take-off spot while others prepare their gliders in line, wrapping them in a rosette until it’s their turn to launch.
