MY MOTIVATION: WHY I’M DOING THIS

Not for Wealth, but for Purpose

I’ve spent my career solving problems, improving processes, and optimizing products — working across industries in a global market, bridging the gap between technology, people, and strategy. But no matter how fulfilling my work has been, I’ve always believed that life is about more than career success.

Throughout my travels, I’ve seen many places. But only two have ever truly felt special:

  • 🇳🇴 Svalbard – The place where time slows down and peace takes over.
  • 🇬🇷 Drama – The place where I feel I truly belong.

Since 2012, I’ve spent a total of 1.5 years in Drama, returning time and time again for paragliding, nature, and the people. It has always been my place to reset, refocus, and recharge. But now, I find myself at a crossroads.

A New Direction

Life took an unexpected turn when my mother suddenly fell ill, and I chose to step away from my career to be by her side. After she passed, grief took its toll, and before I knew it, months turned into a year of isolation, lost connections, and professional setbacks.

Now, nearing 50 years old, with a gap in my CV and no formal degree, I see the reality of the job market: the traditional path back isn’t as simple as submitting a few applications. Instead of continuing to push against a wall, I’ve decided to take control of my future in my own way.

Among the paths forward, realizing the only dream I have yet to bring to life — spending a year in Drama to reset and improve my paragliding skills while among other projects working on the AdventureDrama project — seems like one of the most natural and meaningful choices. An opportunity to invest in myself, in my vision, and in a project that showcases my multidisciplinary skills while creating something valuable for others.

For one year, I will fully dedicate myself to AdventureDrama — turning it into a showcase of my expertise in product development, business strategy, and tourism innovation. Alongside this, I will continue working on my existing projects, such as hohoy.no, as well as invest in my own self-development through online studies and other projects that may pop up.

This is not about running away — it’s about choosing to move forward differently, like I always have done with success until now that I for my first time have been in a situation where I actually have to apply for jobs and not being the one that’s getting applyed for.

Why Drama, and Why Now?

I already told why now am not chasing luxury, wealth, or status. What I want is a life filled with meaning — a life where I can contribute, create, and support something bigger than myself.

My motivation for AdventureDrama is simple:

  • I want to live in a place where happiness is defined by experiences, not possessions.
  • I want to support local businesses and create opportunities.
  • I want to share the hidden beauty of Drama with the world.
  • I want to build something that matters—not just for myself, but for others.

I don’t need more than a car to get around, a home to feel comfortable, food, coffee, and the occasional getaway—because no matter where you live, everyone needs to step away and reset sometimes.

But beyond personal fulfillment, I want to give back. I’ve seen firsthand how hard people in Drama work, and I believe in creating something that benefits both locals and visitors alike. I want to help build sustainable tourism — one that doesn’t exploit or commercialize, but strengthens the community and keeps Drama as authentic as it is today.

Adventure tourism is booming. Drama is ready. And in the next few weeks, a decision will be made — whether to go all in, investing 100% effort and available resources to turn this vision into reality.
